This Means War was hot!

This movie is definitely worth two hours of your time! Coming out tomorrow on DVD, I'm excited to see it again!  Your boyfriend/hubby will like it, mom will like it, friends will like it...the movie reaches a variety of audiences!  Granted, I'm a bit biased because I'm a huge Reese Witherspoon fan, but she has let me down lately with some crappy movies (Four Christmases or How Do You Know and even Water For Elephants).  I wasn't sure how the boys would do, but they held their own.  Chelsea Handler's appearance was comical but Reese Witherspoon stole the show.  She was the sexy, sassy actress I know she can be and reminded me why I love chick flicks so much! My husband said the "guy's friendship" was unrealistic...men don't have in-depth conversations, but at least it was action and chick flick together!

Pleasant Surprise for What to Expect movie

Of course there were two reasons why I was worried about this movie:  #1 Cameron Diaz (we all know she over does it in chick flicks) and #2 Too many actors and feared a second New Years Eve castastrophe! However, I was pleasantly surprised by this movie's ability to bring a tear to my eye.  Perhaps its because I'm a mommy and can relate, but I felt it went deeper than that.  The women were relateable in their own way and Elizabeth Banks stole the show as the best "mommy" of the group.  The surprised hightlight was the "daddy's group" perspective!  You ached for the women and laughed with the men.  Yes, there were some cheezy parts and maybe could have done without a few characters, but this was definitely worth the matinee viewing with a girlfriend!

The Vow...do NOT rent!

Unfortunately, I paid to see this movie at the movie theater.  Poor Rachel McAdams...she could not save this movie!  There was supposed to be this powerful story about a woman who loses her memory and the husband has to make her fall in love with him all over again.  I know its based on true events and there was so much potential but there was one big problem...casting.  I think Channing Tatum is a good looking guy but he is not a dramatic actor!  There should be depth and crying in a movie like this...there was neither.  So you left kind of "ehhh" and no warm, fuzzy feeling.  He was charming but they needed a different actor who could get a little deeper...Ryan Gosling again?  Overall, not worth the 2 hours of your time!

5 Year Engagement was...nice.

I had a hard time coming up with a quirky word to describe this movie... "nice" is all that came to mind. It was a cute story and the fact that Jason Segal wrote it took out the super cheezy nonsense that can ruin these kind of movies.  It had realistic moments but honestly dragged on way too long.  I felt like it was taking 5 years to get the point across!  A romantic comedy should never be 2 hours!  However, their chemistry was good and I liked Emily Blunt in a leading role.  Jason Segal is super cute...you always want to root for him.  They used quite a few "F" bombs that I think were unnecessary, but they had a cute banter with one another.  The only thing I couldn't sink my teeth into was him giving up his career for her...a bit unrealistic in today's world.  The last 30 minutes were probably the cutest part of the movie...all I have to say is "Cookie Monster and Elmo Talk."  Should you see it? Definitely worth a girls night out and/or rental!

New Years Eve...stay far far away!

This movie was torture to sit through!  I'm saving all of you 2 hours of your time that can be utilized on ANYTHING else.  I was so mad I paid for it on demand, but it wasn't redbox ready.  I wasn't able to make it to the movies and I'm so glad I didn't waste $10 on this awful movie.  The last attempt at this was Valentine's Day which was decent compared to this.  First off, can we please stop having Hilllary Swank in chick flicks?  Also, no more Bon Jovi or Ashton Kutcher either!  There were too many storylines and too many actors.  If it would have been three storylines maximum, and actually developed the characters, I would have been intrigued.  Keep Zac Efron and a younger chick with cancer who needs to have New Years resolutions.  Have Sarah Jessica Parker and Josh Dumahel because they were cute together. Keep the "baby" competition for the New Years money...everyone else and every other part needed to GO!  Halle Berry was the only decent one in this movie.  What happened to simplicity?
